Salmonella Illnesses in Multiple States may be Linked to Rec

Salmonella found in 23 cases from 14 states is the same strain found in cereals recalled by a manufacturer, the FDA reports.
The cereals, unsweetened Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat, are distributed nationally, both as Malt-O-Meal products and in "store brand" packaging. Some of the store brands include Pathmark, Shaw's, and Food Club. A complete list appears on the manufacturer's website.
The cereals all have best-if-used-by dates ranging from April 8, 2008 to March 18 of next year.
